The Garnet Blade
The Garnet Blade is a physics based action, monster fighting game about managing the angle of your sword, to quickly dispatch enemies before they you.
Please keep in mind: I ran out of time.
Controls:
You cannot move or do anything on the ground, you must jump into the air for any other inputs to work.
-A and D = Left and right
-J =Jump
-K = Dash, this is directional, you must be holding left or right
-L = Swing, this is directional, you must be holding left or right
-S = Slam(To go down through platforms you must slam)
-Spacebar = Restart button
The game runs better if you download it, but AS FAR AS I KNOW its still plenty playable on the browser.
-This game was made for the Pirate Software Game Jam 16. The theme was "You are the weapon." This is my first published to the world game, and my first game jam. I'm not a musician, and I'm not an artist, but I still did this solo. This isn't really a game, I wanted to do so much more, but I completely overestimated how much I could get done in the timeframe. So, it's more of a concept showcase then a full game. I wanted to do fancy backgrounds, more enemies, an actual menu, opening and ending cutscenes, more levels and so much more. Alas, 4:00 in the morning the night before as I'm writing this. Despite all the stuff I didn't get to do I had fun, and I plan to join the next one. I plan to keep working on this game afterwards. If you have any suggestions, please tell me!

Everything else was made by me! even the music! That was my first track!

Quite an interesting idea to completely incapacitate the character when they're on the ground! I like it, it's novel to me. :D
The controls are very unintuitive, though. I did not get far and I feel with a more intuitive default layout (space to jump, shift to dash, W to swing?) and maybe some mouse support (imagine mouse delta in a circle to swing) I would've played much longer.
Great first jam game and congratulations on your first game "out there"! :)
(PS: holy shit, first track ever and all done solo is monumental, you rock!)
